1. Eligibility

The minimum age for renting a vehicle is 21 years. Drivers between 21 and 24 are subject to a Young Driver Surcharge (up to €45).
All drivers must hold a full, valid driving licence for at least 2 years. International licences are accepted provided they are accompanied by a valid passport or national ID.
A maximum of 2 authorised drivers per rental agreement. Additional drivers must be declared and registered at the time of booking.
SmoothRide reserves the right to refuse rental at its sole discretion.

2. Booking & Payment

Online bookings require a 30% non-refundable deposit paid via Viva Wallet at the time of booking.
The remaining balance is due in full at the time of vehicle pickup, payable by card or cash.
All prices are quoted in Euros (€) and include 19% Cyprus VAT.
Prices are based on a calendar day (24-hour period). Rentals extending beyond the agreed return time by more than 1 hour may be charged an additional day rate.
Out-of-hours delivery or collection (before 08:00 or after 20:00) incurs a €35 surcharge per journey.
Delivery to locations outside Nicosia city (airports, coastal cities, etc.) is available and priced on request.

3. Insurance & Deposit

Basic Protection — Third-party liability insurance is included in all rentals at no additional charge. A €400 refundable security deposit is required and will be released within 7 business days following the return of the vehicle in undamaged condition. Damage excess (renter's liability): €1,071.
Smart Protection (optional, €13.00/day) — No security deposit required. Zero damage excess. Covers minor accidental damage including light scratches, bumper scuffs, small dents and paint chips, subject to rental terms and limits. Recommended for complete peace of mind.
Insurance does NOT cover: theft of personal items, damage caused by negligence or reckless driving, damage to tyres/windscreen caused by road hazards (unless Smart Protection is held), or off-road use.
The renter is liable for all damage not covered by the applicable insurance plan.
An accident report (police report where required) must be filed within 24 hours of any incident.

4. Cancellation & Modifications

Cancellations made 48 hours or more before the agreed pickup time: Full refund of the deposit paid.
Cancellations made less than 48 hours before pickup: The 30% deposit is non-refundable.
No-shows: The deposit is forfeited in full.
Booking modifications (date changes, upgrades) are subject to availability and may result in a price difference.
SmoothRide reserves the right to cancel a booking due to vehicle unavailability. In this case, a full refund will be issued within 5 business days.

5. Vehicle Use

Vehicles may only be driven within the Republic of Cyprus. Cross-border travel (including crossing into the Northern part of the island) requires prior written consent from SmoothRide.
All rentals include unlimited mileage within Cyprus.
Smoking is strictly prohibited in all vehicles. A cleaning fee of €150 applies if evidence of smoking is found.
Pets are permitted only in designated vehicles and must be transported in a suitable carrier.
The vehicle must not be used for any commercial purpose, racing, off-road driving, or sub-rental.
The renter is responsible for ensuring the vehicle has adequate fuel, oil and tyre pressure throughout the rental period.

6. Fuel Policy

Vehicles are provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank.
If the vehicle is returned with less fuel than provided, the renter will be charged the cost of refuelling at the current pump price plus a €15 service fee.

7. Damage & Liability

A pre-rental inspection report is completed at the time of pickup. The renter must review and sign this document. Any pre-existing damage must be noted.
Damage discovered after the return that was not noted at pickup is the renter's responsibility up to the applicable excess.

SmoothRide is not responsible for personal belongings left in the vehicle.

8. Long-Term Leasing

Long-term rentals of 2 months or more are available at discounted monthly rates starting from €486/month.
Monthly rentals include road tax and standard (third-party) insurance. Comprehensive insurance is available at an additional charge.
A minimum advance notice of 7 days is required to terminate a monthly rental agreement early.
The refundable security deposit for monthly rentals is €400 (Basic Protection). With Smart Protection (€13/day) no deposit is required.

9. Privacy & Data

Personal data collected during the booking process (name, email, phone, driving licence details) is used solely for the purpose of the rental agreement and is processed in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
We do not sell or share personal data with third parties except where required for the completion of the rental (e.g., payment processors).
You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing info@smoothride.cy.
